My son and daughter attend Seaford Head Community College. My son came home a few minutes ago with a letter from the school Principal and governors to say that the sixth form that he expected to enter in under a year’s time is to be ’suspended’, read closed.
The announcement, made to a secret meeting of staff yesterday, and only made public because someone of integrity on the staff risked their career to leak it to the press, comes with no consultation whatsoever with parents or students. I am sure I am not the only parent to be outraged by this; who’s for a campaign to turn this decision round? I am trying to find contact details for the governors, who seem to be shy creatures.
If you are a Seaford Head parent, member of staff or student, you could start by contacting the local MP, Norman Baker and the county councillor, Michael Murphy
Involve the teachers and staff unions: NUT, NAS/UWT, UNISON
There needs to be a public meeting to hold the Principal and governors to account. Who’ll help organise it?
More campaign ideas as I think of them. And if you want to write on this blog, e-mail me and I’ll add you as a contributor.
